Product Description
Head sculptures are another focus of Alfred Haberpointner’s work: “I began to feel uncomfortable with the fact that I was working exclusively in the abstract realm and not making any statements about human beings. So the head came back into play, albeit in a different way than in my naturalistic starting point. The head form I developed was already part of my repertoire and enabled me to revisit the theme of humanity and address it in its existence…. The head is a possible form for addressing the theme of humanity in a representative way.”³ He himself defines this working method as a transition to abstraction, the transformation of a natural object into a cultural, entirely new state.
