Product Description

Oil on Canvas

Tanja Mohr’s paintings are multi-layered colour spaces that reveal elements of landscape and architectural fragments. The artist directs the viewer’s gaze through the painting into her own inner mental world. Her artisanal approach, which is characterised by self-developed recipes for the elaborately produced oil paints in the style of the old masters, is one of the special features of her works.
In particular, it is the spaces and transitions that Tanja Mohr makes visible. Her motifs, whether landscapes or interiors, are composed of superimposed layers of pigments and resins to form fragments, dissolving beyond recognition and evoking new subjective perceptions.
Tanja Mohr studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1988 to 1994 and was a master student of Professor Gerd Winner. She lives and works in Munich. She has received scholarships from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, the DAAD, the Prinzregenten-Luitpold-Stipendium and scholarships from the cities of Graz, Budapest and London.
She has also received numerous prizes and is represented in numerous public acquisitions.
