The Center for Antidisciplinary Art (ZAK | zentrum fur antidisziplinare kunst) was founded in 2020 to facilitate artistic projects and collaborations in various contexts with a varying cast of personalities. With the work "UFO | ultra fett original", the collective won the Newcomer Theater Prize at Theater Drachengasse in 2021. This anti-disciplinary spectacle, which deals with Austrian schnitzel fetishism, marked the beginning of the collaboration between, Jessica Comis, Aurelia van Kempen and Eva Sommer, who still form the center's core artistic team today. 2023-2025, ZAK has been using the premises of the former nightclub Tete-a-Tete in Vienna's 15th district as a research facility and community space. A multi-layered meeting place for collective interactions and artistic expression has been created and researched here, with the use of the space constantly in flux. This process gave rise to the Gesamtkunstwerk "PIECE OF LOVE", an ongoing project and expression of collective genius. PIECE OF LOVE comprises a series of open studios, performances, happenings as well as photo and film sessions that ook place at Tete-a-Tete under the labels "Knochenarbeit", "Pyjamaparty", "Ahnen Erahnen" or "Desis Dance". The former nightclub, where love was for sale and interaction took place in intoxication, has been rededicated as an anti-disciplinary art center in which love becomes the basis of artistic and collective practice. In addition, the HotBus-Tour was launched, a two-day film shoot and company outing to Lower Austria with 25 participants, as well as "PIECE OF LOVE x DRACHENGASSE", a theater performance at Theater Drachengasse. In January 2025 they performed DIE ALTE at Roter Salon (Volksbuhne Berlin), which is a performative band project iin collaboration with Paul Ebhart. The artistic work of ZAK and its aesthetics are characterized by the continuous recycling of artworks and their transformation in new contexts as well as the documentation of their endeavors through analog media such as Super8 and Hi8 film by Antonia De La Luz Kašik . ZAK combines elements of dance, theater, music, film, poetry and visual arts to blur the boundaries between different disciplines and between life and art, thus constantly finding innovative ways for collective artistic practice.
