Bananas are familiar to all of us, and they are often an overlooked part of our lives. With this work, I aim to address multiple themes and anchor them in the consciousness of the viewers. On one hand, there is evident humor and wit that these pieces bring forth. However, behind that lies a critical examination of our throwaway society. Often, we no longer recognize what we consume and where it comes from, and this applies to bananas and other “exotic” fruits that are shipped halfway around the world to be consumed by us. These foods have become a part of our society, about which we do not have to or want to actively think. The various forms of the “bananas” represent this absurdity and give personality to otherwise lifeless peels. As viewers, it becomes challenging not to engage with it in our everyday lives.
