In- between kisses with a mouthful of breadcrumbs, questions of spatial notions and gestures of power: The Austrian- Korean artist Kaja Clara Joo (*1991) will present a site- specific artist statement at this year’s Parallel Art Fair. In her multimedial presentation “The Tongue is Blind” an entangled web of steel strings, collapsing rubber sculptures and anecdotes about semi- public yet intimate territories accumulate into a dense narrative. Inspired by historic dental braces the viewers find themselves trapped in a position of unasked closeness and a throbbing feeling of constraint and pressure.
