The photo series I Gesti der Viaggio captures moments in which tourists use their mobile devices to take photos and selfies at popular photo spots. Visitors are photographed while taking photos themselves. Through the use of artificial intelligence, the mobile devices are removed, leaving only empty hands and gestural hand postures of the individuals. The artificially generated images are not further altered or edited. The subjects no longer hold mobile phones in their hands; instead, their hand postures become pure gestures that impart an extended meaning to the photos. These generated gestures elevate the photographs into an expanded and new context, creating a new significance through altered body language.
