In her series “Atlas” (dimensions variable), Anja Manfredi explores ideas of carrying and bearing weight through the mythological and art-historical figure of Atlas. Created in cooperation with Amina Ben Hassen, the work reinterprets the traditionally female, load-bearing figure of the caryatid through the gestures and poses of queer voguing, opening up questions around gender, the body and burden.
