Product Description

Leaf, acrylic, yarn, beads –

The performance “Cantus Klima” by Angela Andorrer is scheduled for 11 September as part of the vernissage of Parallel 24, with the participation of the climate activists Red Rebels of XR Extinction Rebellion. In performances and processions, Andorrer assumes the role of a climate shaman, accompanied by climate activists, and delivers the message, “We change our way of life to protect our children,” through chants.

The artist Angela Andorrer was born in Fredericton, Canada in 1969 and is based professionally in Vienna and Klosterneuburg, Austria. In her art, Angela Andorrer challenges the question of what is considered sacred in the present era. Andorrer elevates the status of the leaf to that of a magical object, displaying it in reliquary monstrances and in monastic works traditionally associated with the devotion to Mary, Jesus, or saints. The Christian symbols are replaced by the leave works, which symbolise our survival on earth, as they produce oxygen with the help of water and sunlight and thus form the basis of life for humans and animals.
