Product Description

Victoria is a crater on Mars which was informally named after one of Magellan’s ships – and the first ship to circumnavigate the globe. The crater was visited by the NASA mars rover Opportunity in 2006. The naming represents a continuation of a history of colonisation, conquest and exploitation into space.

The work builds on film stills from my short film Crater (2022). The digital photo collage is inspired by an artistic exchange with Dan Robert Lahiani and is quoting his photo work The Floor I Left showing a hole in a terrazzo floor.
