grubeck contemporary
BackGrubeck contemporary - gallery & curatorial projects regularly shows a wide variety of contemporary artistic positions at different, often temporarily used locations such as currently at Himmelpfortgasse 12.
As early as 1997, Alexandra Grubeck opened an ample exhibition space with young, partly international artists, based on her former years in New York, under the name T19 - Gallery for Contemporary Art. Some of these positions are still part of the gallery program, now presented in new constellations. The focus remains on outstanding, yet affordable art by younger, up-and-coming as well as mid-career artists, in addition to conveying more appreciation for artistic expressions in general.
Since the beginning continuous support in the form of intensive collaboration with few selected artists was crucial, too: for example with Michaela Schwarz-Weismann, whose new body of work can be discovered at Parallel 24 together with selected photographic works by Claudia Schumann. In addition to a slight spotlight on painting the carefully curated exhibitions always want to create a variety of dialogues in the manner of unusual comparisons also encompassing other media such as sculpture, installations, photography and performance.
Furthermore, often interdisciplinary, complementing projects at unusual locations or in unfamiliar contexts round off this comprehensive concept of making the diversity of contemporary art more visible, following the motto: Try And Love Art!
An important focus lies therefore on various collaborations, sometimes in the applied area - for example in integrating art in the context of specific architectural projects.
This complex approach not only offers the chance for new discoveries, but also unusual perspectives on already known manifestations. A good example of this is the Private Punk series, which always includes three different artistic voices. Artists shown within this context since 2022 are (in alphabetical order): Rouven Duerr, Cristina Fiorenza, Michela Ghisetti, Aldo Giannotti, Kalina Horon, Moni K. Huber, Olivia Kaiser, Michael Kienzer, Ronald Kodritsch, Merlin Kratky, Franziska Maderthaner, Pauline Marcelle, Michi Lukas, Mari Otberg, Alexander Ruthner, Claudia Schumann, Klaus Schuster, Michaela Schwarz-Weismann, Fabian Seiz, Jakob Veigar Sigurdsson and Eva Wagner. Other thematic shows included artists like Max Boehme, Anita Fricek, Begi Guggenheim, Karen Hollaender, Heidi Lackner, Thomas Laubenberger-Pletzer, Carlos Perez, Bahareh Rahimi, Ben Reyer, Martin Schnur, Jork Weismann.
Creating this platform for diverse exchange always means aiming to offer an open environment not only for artists but also for artlovers of all kinds, as well as for young and established collectors, strongly connected by curiosity, common interest and mutual appreciation.
