Egor Lovki

In his artistic practice, Lovki explores intertwined phenomena of societal and personal insecurity and ambivalence. Starting from questions about normative identity, hierarchical structures, and existing value systems, he perceives the central phenomena surrounding him as discourses marked by conflict. Cracks and inconsistencies in worldviews, ideals, and sociocultural narra- tives shape his simplistically figurative works. The frequent fragmentation of painted or otherwise constructed surfaces serves as both a formal foundation and a narrative carrier of his reduced storytelling represen- tations. Intuitively expressive gestures intertwine with deliberate artistic decisions. Disrupted surfaces bear witness to aesthetic dilemmas arising from an understanding of a world full of conflict and contradictions. Thus, the sensitive interplay of tension and fragility is shared both in terms of content and formally in the media, technical, and compositional sense.
