Guided Tours: “Steinhof During National Socialism”

The site now known as the Otto Wagner Areal was once home to the “Am Steinhof”
Psychiatric Hospital, which became a central location for Nazi medical killings
during the National Socialist regime. At least 7,500 patients were murdered
here. As part of PARALLEL Vienna, the DÖW offers guided tours across the Otto
Wagner grounds on Saturday and Sunday at 12:00.

NaIrregular Archive – Reading / Guided tour
A live reading from Irregular Archive, a collaborative newspaper and installation
that gathers voices often left unheard. Texts range from poems and essays to
reflections and fragments, exploring memory, media, migration, and the spaces
between silence and narration. The reading brings the archive to life, inviting the
audience to encounter personal stories, collective experiences, and the textures
of language as lived reality.

MUK goes OWA

The Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna (MUK) will be relocating
to the Otto Wagner Areal as a key tenant – and is opening its doors to the
public for the first time.
At Pavilion 10, the project team will offer insights into the newly adapted spaces
of the future campus. To give visitors a taste of MUK’s artistic spirit, there will be
live music performed hourly by MUK students. The Music and Arts Private University
of the City of Vienna (MUK) is the only university owned by the City of Vienna.
Students from over 60 countries receive high-quality, affordable artistic, academic,
and arts education training in the fields of music, dance, drama, and voice at
the faculties of Music and Performing Arts.
Starting in the 2030/31 academic year, MUK is set to move into the Otto Wagner Areal.

„MINUTE MUSEUM OF RESISTANCE“

In this performative object talk, Stefan Bidner (Parallel Vienna) and Ursula
Schwarz (DÖW), together with curators Alexander Martos and Niko Wahl, delve
into the stories behind selected works and objects in front of a live audience.
The “Minute Museum of Resistance” is part of the series “Immer Wider Stand”,
through which the DÖW – soon to be located on the Otto Wagner Areal—establishes
connections with neighboring cultural institutions.
