Elements from everyday life, pop culture, as well as (art)historical and mythological figures gather in Cristina Rüeschs painted scenes, sculptures and texts. Recurring characters (such as ghosts, spies, etc.) act as leitmotifs for her narratives and serve the need to get to the bottom of personal observations, fears and hopes (which in turn are embedded in a political-cultural whole). Tragedy lurks behind a thin curtain.
