My grandfather Klaus was part of OTRAG, a german rocket building company. Back in the 1970s OTRAG signed a contract with Mobutu, the dictator of Zaire, today the Democratic Republic of Congo. They gained nearly exclusive rights over 100.000 km2 of land and all life on it.
Three years later Klaus died in Zaire. I grew up on the land my father inherited from him. Klaus filmed in Zaire with a Super8-Camera. Landscapes, animals and people who inhabited the area before OTRAG arrived there. I am unsure how to deal with this material. What to show? What not to reproduce? So I start with the Viecher.
