Malte van de Water

In the work of Malte van de Water, digitality and analog painting enter into a close dialogue. The painterly process, the application of multiple layers of paint on digitally generated stencils and grids, is at the center of his works. The works on paper are also an expression of such a balancing act between different techniques. At first, they seem like printed matter. On closer inspection, it becomes apparent that they are machine-made drawings. The examination of technical possibilities and the investigation of the respective media specifics runs like a thread through his work."
